Just do what you want to do to be happy. Never be affected by the opinions of the fools. I can sense a good person in you. :-)

Again, as I stated in a comment above, this is a very distressing state of affairs, but this is exactly the symptons my wife's mother had. She died a year after my own mother at the age of 74, and she was also a lifelong smoker, who had COPD, and fell asleep during the day while sitting on a chair. My deepest sympathies to you for all you've had to endure here.

I was deeply saddened to read this. True, I don't know you personally, but your story is poignant and only too real. I lost my own mother in 2003 to lung cancer when she was 72, also th eresult of years of smoking. She quit when she was 62, but it was too late. I hope and pray you will have much more time with her then you think.

"It's not supposed to be easy. If the death of a beloved pet ever becomes no big deal, I'll know there's something terribly wrong with my heart and that I should never have a cat again. The measure of our grief is the measure of our love. It's the price we pay. Much as it hurts, I think I would rather suffer through it than to miss out on the joy of my cats."

(from another blog I frequent)

I'm sorry for your loss. Little critters sometimes make the biggest holes in our lives.

Consider it "extra credit" for the other things you did this year (festival, etc.). It all works out in the great karmic balance, or something.
